#6 Sunday Sounds - Benefit Facial Cream & Foamingly Clean Wash

Benefit have really gone up recently in my estimation for skincare, I have always loved their makeup but never really paid much attention to their skincare purely because I knew what I liked and didn't want to change but Nicks mum bought me these two for my birthday last year and thought I would give them a go. I did have the mini set a while ago but they just got put away for travel as they are the perfect size.

The face wash is very similar to the Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Cleanser. You literally need only the tiniest amount and it foams up into a lovely rich lather. It is seriously creamy, which I adore in any skincare product, and leaves that squeeky clean tight feeling. I know some people love that feeling but for me not so much, my skin is already dry and tight enough as it is, it doesn't need to feel any more tighter. After using the wash my skin just feels like it's crying out for moisturiser to soothe it. Benefit have described the wash as below:

"There's clean and there's really clean. Foamingly clean facial wash effectively cleanses the skin and removes makeup and impurities with a soft, gentle lather"

Honestly, I would agree with that. It does leave skin feeling really clean but a little too squeeky clean for me. It is a great wash to use in the shower to wash your face but I wouldn't like to use it every day as it just dries my skin out a little too much. It removes makeup really well but you will still need to cleanse afterwards to get the last bits off. At £17.50 it is a little expensive so I'm not sure I would buy it again for myself.

The facial cream is a different matter mind you. I just love the glass packaging, it makes it feel super luxurious and looks ever so pretty sat on your dressing table. The cream is aimed more towards normal/dry skin and whilst yes it does moisturise it also contains alcohol which seems a bit bizarre for me. Anything that contains alcohol is normally just a no go for my sensitive skin. But saying that the cream hasn't caused any reaction and hasn't caused any further dryness.

The cream applies lovely, it is light but quite rich and thick in consistency and doesn't leave any greasiness behind which is good. The smell is also lovely and fresh which is a massive plus point as I don't like anything to heavily scented. At £27.50 it is really quite pricey and compared to my little REN favourite at the moment it just doesn't compare unfortunately.

However my mum and sister absolutely love these two products so again that goes to show how subjective and personal skincare is. What doesn't suit one person will more than likely suit the next. I know a lot of people of bloggers that absolutely love this stuff but it just doesn't unfortunately do anything for my skin. Don't get me wrong it didn't affect my skin in any bad way at all, it just didn't benefit my skin or improve it either.

  1. I really like Benefit skin care. I get on really well with the facial cream and it's my go-to moisturiser.

    1. I've spoken to loads of people that love it, it's not that I don't like it it just didn't benefit or improve my skin. Although I do however absolutely love the it's potent eye cream xx
