Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

I've been a fan of cleansing oils for quite some time now to remove my makeup, they're so easy to use and are super effective with little effort, so as you can imagine I have tried my fair share, one of which being this Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil.

You apply just like any other cleansing oil, over the top of makeup, massage in and then watch the makeup melt away from your face. It sweeps away any impurities and leaves skin feeling clean and cleansed. A cleansing oil is always the first step of my evening cleansing routine, I apply this then remove with a hot flannel and then follow with a balm like cleanser and an exfoliator as well to remove any dead skin cells and to wash the impurities away.

This oil is very effective at removing my makeup, it massages in easily and then once removed with a hot flannel it leaves my skin feeling completely clean. It doesn't leave any film or residue behind nor does it feel greasy in the slightest. I do however have a couple of niggles with this product. It isn't the best at removing my eye makeup, it just does a bit of a half hearted job really so I'm then left to scrub at my eyes with my following cleanser and also with a micellar water or eye makeup remover, which I just can't be bothered to do quite frankly. Other cleansing oils I have used have completely removed my eye makeup without the need of scrubbing afterwards so this is a little bit of a let down. Also, the packaging is shocking. Now I'm not sure if I just received a duff or whether it is actually the packaging, but my bottle leaks constantly. When I pump the product out, it leaks from the side and heaven forbid if I happen to knock the bottle over by accident, the product will literally pour out all over the place.

Generally, it's a good cleansing oil but I don't feel like there's anything special about it that sets it apart from the rest. I will continue to use this until I have used it up but I don't think I will re purchase as I have tried other cleansing oils in the past which I prefer.

Have you tried this oil? What do you think of it?

  1. I've never tried a cleansing oil because I have oily skin as it is - but I'm intrigued to try one!

  7. Fab post hun, oils are something new for me when it comes to skincare and I like that it leaves skin feeling clean just a shame about the eye makeup. Oh no it doesn’t sound good about the leaking also, I prefer oils to come with pipettes as it makes life easier haha.

  8. Hm I've been interested in trying this because I really like the Camomile Cleansing Butter, but from the sounds of it I may just stick to the butter! It gets all my waterproof mascara off so easily.

  9. I prefer the Butter version as this one just seems to .. have a scent. I can't put my finger on it but I don't like it. Also I just prefer the Shu Uemura one, but that one is so expensive *Cry*

  11. I use the L'Oreal Miracle Cleansing Oil which I've found is so efficient at removing eye makeup. Such a shame this isn't overly great. I've been considering trying this but maybe I'll give it a miss for now!

  12. Aw it's a shame this didn't work so well on your eye makeup as I love it (though I do prefer the butter version at the moment). Mine leaks too, very annoying! xx
