#48 Sunday Sounds - New York Makeup Staples

Yep that's right I'm going to New York and not only am I going to New York in two days I am going to New York at Christmas...the dream. I'm going with my best friend Lucy so we're gonna have a real girly time, Christmas shopping, drinking cocktails, eating food and seeing the sites. I'm pretty much packed and ready so I wanted to share with you what I'll be taking in my makeup bag as I've tried to keep it really simple and capsule.

For my base I'll be using the Dior Glow Maximiser. This stuff packs a serious punch when it comes to highlighting, you only need the tiniest amount to give your skin that lit from within look. You can also use this product over makeup as a highlighter for the cheek bones, brow bone and down the bridge of your nose so it gives plenty of options. My signature makeup look is always dewy skin and this primer always helps me to achieve this. Then for my foundation I have the Burberry Fresh Glow FoundationThis foundation gives a super dewy finish with a light to medium coverage, honestly I love this stuff. It feels really light on the skin and packs a super dewy punch so looks really fresh and glowy on the skin. It looks so natural on the skin and is really breathable so doesn't feel cakey or heavy at all on the skin. It blends in seamlessly and actually works into the skin rather than just sitting on top like some foundations do making it perfect for my dry skin at this time of year. For my concealer I am completely obsessed with the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. It's super creamy and blends just beautifully into my skin, I can't tell you how many tubes I have gotten through of this little beauty. It doesn't crease and completely disguises my dark circles and blemishes. To set my base I use the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder, there are no words. If you're an avid follower of Dreaming Pretty then you most likely know much love I have for this powder. I have this in shades 30 and 40 as I use the darker shade for contouring and the lighter shade as just a normal powder. I just love this and can't be without it. It super lightweight so doesn't feel heavy or powdery on the skin and gives such a lovely healthy and radiant complexion. Also the scent of this powder is just...ah-mazing.

For the cheeks I have got the H&M Powder Blush in shade Golden Peach. This blusher is just shy of amazing, it's a peach blush with a golden shimmer running through it and let me tell you, the pigmentation is second to none. It picks up really well onto the brush, applies to the skin evenly and blends like an absolute dream. To highlight the skin I will be taking the No7 Instant Radiance Highlighter, this is a stick form highligher so is really easy and precise to apply. It blends like a dream and gives a lovely illuminated look to the face when applied to the high points.

For the eyes, I've got a number of products. Of course, Dolce Vita is coming with me. It contains four shades that all perfectly compliment not only each other but also this time of year. There's a rusty red, a khaki, a warm toned champagne and a gold pressed pigment. It's perfect for this time of year and also perfect for travelling with the sleek and slim packaging. And of course I couldn't go anyway without my trusty bronze cream shadow, the MaxFactor Excess Shimmer - 25 Bronze, is one of my faves. It is the prettiest shade of bronze and has a slight shimmer to it giving the most luxe of finishes. This is perfect for an evening with a slick of liner and a red lip. Then I've got a couple of liners, the H&M Shadow Stick in shade Treasure Hunt, this is a lovely deep green shade with a gold undertone to it, it's perfect for this time of year all over the lid with a brown liner and a slight smokey outer corner. Then lastly I've got the L'Oreal Blackbuster Super Liner, I much prefer the felt tip style pens for liquid liners and this gives a really deep black definition to the eyes.

Then lastly for the lips, I've got all bases covered. I've got a nude, a pink and a red. The nude is the Lancome Shine Lover Lipstick - Twisted Beige, these lipsticks are so hydrating on the lips and give a good few hours wear. This shade in particular is a lovely muted rose tone and gives a really nice sheen to the lips. The pink is MaxFactor Lipfinity Lipstick in shade 45 So Vivid is most definitely coming with me. It's the perfect pink for my skin tone and colouring and suits me right down to the ground. I'll most likely be wearing this every night. Then for the red I've got NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, in shade Cruella. It glides on like a dream and stays put all day and night through eating, drinking, chatting, kissing, you name it. Obviously it's matte so is slightly drying but nothing too drastic and to combat this I just apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying.

So that's it, my New York makeup staples. The question is, what do you guys recommend picking up whilst I'm there?
